Where our material comes from
Irish legislation
Rules are checked against Acts and statutory instruments on the Irish Statute Book. Wherever we quote legislation or reproduce a diagram from a statutory instrument, we add this line:

The Irish Statute Book carries the notice "Oireachtas Copyright Material is reproduced with the permission of the Houses of the Oireachtas", which we keep. The licence is published on the Oireachtas open data licence page. When we shorten an excerpt or redraw a diagram, we mark it as changed from the original.
The licence does not cover State emblems, so the harp never appears on this site.
Road Safety Authority data from the Central Statistics Office
Statistics on driving tests and licences come from Road Safety Authority tables hosted by the Central Statistics Office and licensed under CC BY 4.0, as the CSO copyright policy sets out.
Beside each figure we credit the Road Safety Authority and the Central Statistics Office, name and link the table it comes from, and say when we calculated the figure ourselves rather than taking it straight from the table. We do not use the CSO logo.
Road sign images
Most road sign images come from files in the Irish road signs category on Wikimedia Commons. We only use files that carry a clear licence tag, and we keep a record of where every file came from: its sign code, its Commons file page and its licence tag.
Where Commons has no current file for a sign, we use the diagram printed in the schedule to the traffic signs regulations on the Irish Statute Book. We trim the white page margin and change nothing else. Those diagrams are Oireachtas material, reused under the Oireachtas (Open Data) PSI Licence (CC BY 4.0), and every sign page that shows one carries that credit.
Other public bodies
For facts such as fees, ages and booking rules we link to the page of the public body that publishes them and restate the fact in our own words. If we ever quote text from Citizens Information, we add: "Contains Irish Public Sector Data licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence."
Material we never reuse
The Road Safety Authority allows its website content to be reused only for non-commercial purposes. This site is funded by advertising, so we do not reuse any text, tables or diagrams from rsa.ie or from the Rules of the Road. Where a fact from them matters, such as a speed limit, we state it in our own words and link to the page.
We never use questions, answers, explanations or images from the question bank used in the real theory test, from its book, app or online practice service, or from any other practice site. The Road Safety Authority logo and agency branding never appear here.
