The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. In practice we build the site so that:

• lessons and other reading pages are plain web pages that work without JavaScript
• you can zoom any page, and pinch zoom is never blocked
• headings follow a clear order, so screen reader users can move around a page
• practice tests can be answered with the keyboard
• road sign images carry a text alternative that says what the sign means

Known limits

• Mock theory tests have a countdown timer with no pause, because the real theory test is timed. If you need more time, practice sets are untimed unless you switch a timer on, and they can be paused.
• Mock tests and numbered practice sets need JavaScript to run. Lessons, road sign pages and this statement do not.
• The consent choices panel comes from a third-party provider, so we cannot fully control how it works with assistive technology. Tell us if it gets in your way.
